Unfortunately more often than not, builders use the cheapest possible materials when constructing steel porches, balconies, railings, and etc. Living here in the Midwest our steel structures are under constant attack from rust and when they are built from inferior materials, been poorly poorly maintained, they fail prematurely.

Here at Midwest Welders, much like the Chicago Red Line restoration project we choose to use galvanized material whenever possible to fight against this enemy rust. Galvanized steel is one of the most durable forms of corrosion protection available. The zinc coating protects the steel from rust and other forms of corrosion, and can extend the lifespan of the steel by 50–80 years.
